The exterior decorated in a famille rose palette, having two large and two small scenic reserves, framed in rust red scrolling forms, the larger reserves depicting a Mandarin family at leisure in their garden, including a familiar scene (though rarely depicted on Chinese porcelain) of two dogs fighting while a male figure wields a stick above them, on a ground of scrolling gold (much worn) the interior rim decorated in a ranseur-head border in gold and black.
