SKU: 1623 C

DIMENSIONS: 10 1/4 ROUND X 4 1/2 H

A very fine Chinese Qing dynasty Qianlong period export porcelain centerpiece bowl, circa 1770-1780, decorated in famille rose (fencai) enamels, the exterior painted with two panoramic panels depicting a genre scene of a well-to-do southern Chinese Mandarin family in their waterside garden pavilion, each panel framed in a scrolling grisaille border and separated by a ground of cross-hatched diaper pattern in rust red with reserves of scattered flowers in colors, the interior rim painted with a beaded and lambrequin border and centered with a vignette of scattered flowers. The scenics on this one are particularly charming, especially the figure of the mother holding a posy of flowers while her small children crowd around her and tug on her robes, a wonderfully timeless and homey scene.
